If you are new to Tailgating and simply trying to figure out how to get your Tailgate Game started, here are some Tailgating basics that will help you through the process

What is the size of your Tailgate Spot and does the venue have any limitations that you
need to be aware of such as type of grill that you can use? The size of your Tailgate Spot
and any Venue specific limitations are key to defining your options for your Tailgate. Can you fit a 10’X10’ size tent in your spot or is an 8’X8” a better fit due to tight spaces? Before investing in any “equipment” for your tailgate make sure you meet any limitations/requirements.

Do you want music and how much music do you want? The sky is the limit and the answer here depends on how large your Tailgate will be, how much time you will be spending at your Tailgate, the quality of sound that you desire and if you have a generator appropriately sized to run a larger sound setup.

Do you want a TV and what size TV is right for you and your setup? Deciding factors will again be the amount of time you will be spending at your Tailgate, number of people you will have at your Tailgate (viewing area needed) and making sure you have a generator appropriately sized to run the audio and visual components for a TV

Tailgating : Food & Beverages

Will you be swinging by the local Bojangles and picking up just enough chicken and sweet tea for the group or do you plan on preparing food onsite? If you are preparing onsite this will mean considerations for the cooking source (grill, roaster ovens, griddle, etc.) as well as tables, warming trays, utensils, etc. for the food you will be serving. Again, you can enhance your experience by adding in coffee makers, electric ovens/roasters, etc., you will just need to consider the impact this will have on the size of generator you will need.

Nothing beats a great cooler for those long Tailgates! Investing in a proven well insulated cooler for beverages as well as perishable food items is critical. Making sure you have the right capacity and quality in your coolers is an investment worth every penny. Once at your Tailgate, you will not be able to refresh your ice without a major effort so quality of cooler is critical to ensuring cold beverages and safe food preservations.

Tailgating : Generator

Do you need a generator and if so how do you know the right size? Starting with a smaller 1600 or 1800 watt generator is normally perfect for powering an audio and video system and will give you some latitude to add in a strand or two of lights as well. You will want a quiet generator and also one that can grow with you as you look to enhance your Tailgating experience. The Tailgate Shop has a generator chart that will give you some of the most popular options for Tailgating.
